Successful Story

Amit & Neha

Our story started with a little hesitation.

I was in Delhi and Neha was in Mumbai. When I saw her profile, the first thing I noticed was the location. I almost moved on because I wasn't sure whether a long-distance relationship would work.

But I liked her profile, so I sent a request anyway.

That one decision changed a lot of things for us.

We started talking occasionally and then, without really planning it, started talking every day. Sometimes we would speak for ten minutes and sometimes two or three hours would pass without us realising it.

We started looking forward to each other's calls.

The funny thing is that even though we lived in different cities, I felt that I knew Neha better than some people I had known for years.

We talked about our families, our jobs, our plans and also the things we were worried about. We were quite open with each other from the beginning.

Our first meeting happened after almost two months.

I travelled to Mumbai and we met for coffee.

I was extremely nervous.

Neha later told me that she was nervous too, although she didn't look nervous at all.

That day we spent a few hours together, and after I returned to Delhi, we both knew that we wanted to continue.

The distance was not always easy.

There were days when we couldn't talk. There were times when work made it difficult to meet. We had to plan everything in advance.

But somehow, we never felt that the distance was bigger than our relationship.

When we told our families that we wanted to get married, they had many questions. Most of them were practical questions, and honestly, we had the same questions ourselves.

Where would we live?

Whose city would we move to?

What about our careers?

We didn't have every answer.

But we decided that we would figure things out together.

We got married and eventually moved to Bengaluru.

It has been a wonderful journey, but it hasn't been perfect.

We have disagreements. We get irritated with each other. Sometimes one of us is too busy and the other feels ignored.

But we have learned to talk about things instead of keeping them inside.

Looking back, I am glad I didn't ignore that profile just because of the distance.

If I had, I would probably still be wondering who that person was.
